Foot and cycle passenger charges on the Cowes floating bridge will now begin on 27 July 2015.

Originally charges were expected to commence on 20 July, however, due to delays in the supply of new equipment, this start date has been postponed by one week to allow adequate time for staff to become fully trained.

Isle of Wight Council Executive member for economy and tourism, Councillor Shirley Smart, said:

“This slight delay in implementing floating bridge charges is necessary to ensure that there are minimal disruptions to users and that a good level of service is maintained. We need to ensure that our staff feel confident in administering the new processes before they are rolled out to the public.”
