Cowes Floating Bridge service suspended and no passenger launch in place (update 2)

The Isle of Wight council has announced that the Cowes Floating Bridge has been suspended due to weather conditions.

3pm Update: Due to the ongoing adverse weather, the Floating Bridge is now expected to return to service at 20:00 hours. The local schools have been informed and a procedure is in place for student travel on the bus services.

A spokesperson for the council said,

“Due to the current weather conditions; North, North Easterly winds with gusts and an incoming tide the Floating Bridge will suspend operation until 15:00hrs today when the tide will be falling.

“It will not be possible to operate a replacement launch due to the adverse conditions. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
