Drone pics show current state of Floating Bridge 5 – Rusting away in Gosport

Last updated:

Floating Bridge 6 is never far from the news sadly – It’s been troubled from pretty much day one. With all of the years of palaver it brings, this sometimes raises the question – “Why don’t we just bring back FB5?”

Well, as you may remember, FB5 was sold and sailed off to the Mainland. It lives in Gosport these days, pretty close to where the Gosport Ferry lands after its short journey from Portsmouth.

Drone shots
If you’re over there you can see it from the shore, but luckily, Gosport Drone has been buzzing around and taking shots from the air, giving a view only seagulls see these days.

Here’s the good news – FB5 is still afloat (although it’s worth noting that the council have said many times that too much work would be needed for her to return to service here). It’s looking pretty rough around the edges and it’s laden with all sorts of bits and pieces (What can you see?).

Thanks to Steve Hammond, we can share these photos with you.
