Number of Isle of Wight JSA claimants released

Figures published by the Office for National Statistics show that 1,245 people in the Isle of Wight area were claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) during June 2016.

The figures show a drop of 105 since May 2016, when there were 1,350 JSA claimants, and a rise of 25 from June 2015 (1,220).

Of those claiming in June 2016, 855 were male and 390 female.

That means 1.5% of the resident population of area aged 16-64 is claiming JSA – 0.5% more than the rest of the South East (1%), and 0.3% above the whole of the UK (1.8).
