Ventnor Film Society finish the season with ‘The Lady in the Van’

Thanks to Lin for sharing details of this change to the Ventnor Film Society’s final screening of the season. Ed

Ventnor Film Society is coming to the end of another enjoyable season and would like to announce a change to its final film before the summer break.

We are unable to obtain our advertised film, Black Souls, so we will instead be screening the popular comedy/drama, The Lady In The Van, for which Maggie Smith received a BAFTA nomination.

Alan Bennett’s story is based on the true story of Miss Shepherd, a woman of uncertain origins who “temporarily” parked her van in Bennett’s London driveway and proceeded to live there for 15 years. What begins as a begrudged favour becomes a relationship that will change both their lives.

Filmed on the street and in the house where Bennett and Miss Shepherd lived all those years, acclaimed director Nicholas Hytner reunites with iconic writer Alan Bennett to bring this rare and touching portrait to the screen.

Where and when
The Lady In The Van will be showing at Ventnor Arts Club, 13 High St, Ventnor on Tuesday 26th and Weds 27th April at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £6 on the door and as this is such a popular film we would advise people to book by emailing [email protected].

There is no membership required to see our films and everyone is welcome.
