AAA Records Awards showcases the best of Isle of Wight’s music scene #10

We’re onto the tenth day of the AAA Records annual Awards.

So far we’ve seen Jayden Hitchcock from EarsPeeled pick up the Award for Best live Event, Plastic Mermaids take the prize for Album of the Year, Dick Taylor was crowned Isle of Wight Music Legend, Silas Gregory named as Innovator of the Year, The Chesterfields were awarded Single of the Year for ‘Mr Wilson Goes To Norway’, Fox Rawding was honoured with Live Act of the Year, Platform One picked up the Nigel Hayles Award for Services to Isle of Wight Music, Grade 2 grabbed the Bad Influence of 2022 award and Fat Earthers were honoured with the Best Video Award.

Online Resource of the Year
We’re chuffed to report that the next award, Online Resource of the Year, was presented to yours truly just before Christmas at the Pete Holden memorial gig at Independent Arts in Newport.

Andy Barding from AAA Records announced it today, saying,

“The end is nigh! It’s time for us to present our second to last AAA Award of 2022. And we couldn’t be happier to announce that our goldie lookin’ disc for online resource of the year goes to News OnTheWight!

“Sally and Simon Perry have been championing the arts and Isle of Wight artists since 2005, when they first founded VentnorBlog.

“Skip forward 17-plus years and OnTheWight, as it became, is now a vast archive of thousands of articles in support of Isle of Wight music makers.

“And, from a personal point of view, their support of everything we’ve tried to do at AAA has been immeasurable.”

Thanks Andy, it’s great to receive recognition from someone who also does loads for the music industry.

Final award
There’s just one more award to announce, so keep your eye peeled on New Year’s Eve for the 11th AAA Records Annual Award.
