The Isle of Wight councillor for East Cowes, Karl Love, is calling on residents to show their support for the iconic tree, which is due to be removed by the end of next week.
The East Cowes Umbrella Tree was planted over 100 years ago by Queen Victoria’s roads manager.
In January 2018, the Isle of Wight council (via Island Roads) said they would be removing the tree and replacing it with a 3ft Birch tree as the Umbrella Tree was infected with fungus and dangerous.
