Goodbye Hoegh Osaka

Another farewell to Hoegh Osaka (picture gallery)

Islanders were yesterday waving goodbye to the Hoegh Osaka, the cargo ship which ran aground on Bramble Bank in January.

She was carrying 1,400 vehicles when purposely grounded on Bramble Bank after she began listing during passage down the Southampton channel on 3rd January.

Three week stay
The vessel was listing at 52 degrees at one point during her three week stay in the Solent.

Once water that had found itself inside her had been pumped out and the list improved, she was taken by tug back to Southampton port.

She remained in Southampton for about three weeks and earlier this week set off on her way to Falmouth for repairs, passing the Isle of Wight looking in a far healthier position.

Captured by local photographer
Allan Marsh, who has taken some great shots of the ship this year, was out with his camera when she passed and managed to capture these shots below.
