Asphalt Plant: Residents concerned over lack of public meeting

Five weeks ago at the public meeting held in East Cowes with the asphalt plant applicant, Eurovia Roadstone, it was mentioned by one of their representatives that once additional paperwork had been lodged with the council, another general public meeting would be held in addition to one-to-one meetings.

As readers will know, that additional paperwork requested by the council has now been lodged with the planning department and members of the public have an opportunity to comment on the application, so long as they do so by 21st September.

As we are nearly two weeks into the consultation and there has been no news of a public meeting from Eurovia, we got in touch with them today to find out why.

A representative from Eurovia’s PR called to advise that an ‘event’ is being planned, further details of date and location to follow in due course. Whether this will be before the deadline for comments is unclear but we’ll let you know once we hear more.

Update 17.49: A representative told On The Wight, “Eurovia Roadstone is currently organising two public forums for residents to come and discuss the planning application and allow more time as it was commented that there was insufficient time at the public meeting and we will confirm the details over the next few days.”

Comment online
In the meantime, residents can comment on the new paperwork lodged with the council via the Planning Website (TCP/30985).

The formal three week consultation period commenced on Friday 31st August and closes on 21st September 2012.
