It's usual for road closures to be in place when a bridge is repaired, however, Island Roads have developed a scheme that means all the work can be done from underneath the structure in the case of Rodge Brook.
The work was undertaken through Island Roads’ volunteering scheme under which employees are encouraged to take two days paid leave a year in order to undertake work for local good causes.
Starting at the end of the month and lasting four weeks - expect delays as two-way temporary lights are put into place to control traffic during work times.
Work is expected to last up to ten weeks and has been timed to take place after the main holiday season. It will take place out of peak hours, but there will be a need for one-lane traffic.
