Update: Strike all that, have just taken some shots of Aviva passing us in Madeira Road, Ventnor meaning she’s past the finish line. Congratulations! We’re told she passed the official line at 8.40am!
They beat the record for sailing around Britain and Ireland by 17 hours and 16 minutes. The journey took them 6 days, 11 hours, 30 minutes and 53 seconds.
Keep this eyes peeled for the all women crew who will have managed to smash the outright record for sailing Britain and Ireland.Word has reached us that Dee Caffari and her crew aboard Aviva are due past the finish line off the coast of Ventnor at around 9am this morning.
Given the delays and then problems with lack of wind whilst on the attempt, these girls have excelled themselves to breaking the record.
Congratulations to them all. We’ll be cheering them past the finish line.
