Badger knocked down in Brading: An impact of flooded Setts? (Video)

If you were caught up in traffic tailbacks in Brading last night (Thursday), OnTheWight reader Tony Smith may have the reason why.

Tony shared this video footage (see below) from this dashboard camera of the tailbacks created last night, after a badger had been hit by a vehicle at around 5.30pm.

As you can see from the video below, the police were holding up the traffic whilst they waited for someone from Island Roads to move the badger.

Flooded sett?
It’s unusual to see a badger out at that time of night, when there’s still lots of human activity.

Tony told us,

“I spoke to a man from the Badger Trust and he thinks it’s sett got flooded, because it was very strange being out that early in the evening.”

There have been several flood alerts for the Eastern Yar area in recent days, and as shown on Richard Manser from SafeSite IOW’s aerial drone video earlier this week, many parts of Brading have been flooded following heavy persistent rain.
