Fire in woodburner :

Blaze reminds us all of a simple rule to stay safe

The Isle of Wight Fire Service were called to a report of a fire in Godshill this lunchtime.

Logs resting on top of a woodburner at an address in Newport Road, Godshill led to the fire service being called at 12.21pm.

Two appliances from Newport fire station attended and a stop was placed on the incident at 12.47pm.

Something we’ve all done
At a time when woodburning stoves are in regular use, it’s worth remembering that leaving logs on or against a woodburner could lead very quickly to a fire on the wrong side of the stove.

Best advice is to keep logs stored a safe distance from the stove.
