It’s that time of the year again when young bands on the Isle of Wight are busy rehearsing for various Battle of the Band competitions to win a slot playing at the Isle of Wight Festival.
Young Islanders, Bright As Vegas have been in touch to let us know that they’ve made it through to the finals of Medina Battle of the Bands competition.
The winners of the contest secure a slot on the main stage of this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.
If you haven’t heard of them before, here’s a short bio about the band.
Formed in 2008, Bright As Vegas are a young four piece-female fronted powerpop/pop-punk band. Although the band started out playing covers, they felt like something clicked, so immediately set to work on writing and recording their five track debut EP.
Guitar Heroes 2009 Isle of Wight Festival
The band were asked to play the Platform One/Guitar hero stage at the 2009 Isle of Wight Festival before building up a wealth of experience on the Island’s circuit supporting bands from the mainland.
A new single and a professional music video later, Bright As Vegas were invited back to play at the 2010 Isle Of Wight Festival. They went on to spend the rest of the year, and up to now, gigging around the South with countless of the South’s finest bands at incredible venues such as Southampton Joiners and Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms, with shows in the next few weeks in Southampton (14th) and Bournemouth (19th).
Angsty choruses win them a place in the final
Recently Bright As Vegas made it through to the finals of the Medina Battle of the Bands with their angsty shout along choruses and heart pounding riffs.
The band are now in for a chance to play on the mainstage at the Isle of Wight festival.
