Colour temperature and brightness can be adjusted on new street lighting

With the ending of daylight-saving time, residents of the prison estates were recently updated by Isle of Wight council on the roll out of modernised and environmentally friendly streetlighting.

The new lighting – which covers the three estates of Camp Hill, Parkhurst, and Albany – can be adjusted for colour temperature and brightness, as well as ensure a friendlier environment for wildlife, including protected species.

Garratt: Residents appreciate the new streetlights
Local councillor for Parkhurst and Hunnyhill, Andrew Garratt, welcomed the roll out, saying,

“Many residents have said how much they appreciate the new streetlights after many years with little or no lighting.

“I am grateful to residents for their patience and co-operation during the process of installation, and to the team at the council and Island Roads who saw this project through.”

“I look forward to seeing the options that can be provided for council-owned roads for resurfacing.”

The lighting marks the first stage of improvements for the estates, with road resurfacing works being the next major stage to be carried out by Island Roads. At the same time, Isle of Wight Council will begin to identify and remove old road signage on some of the roads.
