Following yesterday’s news that the Isle of Wight council’s household waste contractor, Biffa, was under the threat of being taken over by a bank, HSBC, On The Wight has learnt that the council were in discussion with the company yesterday.
Described as “initial discussions”, the council said that they are “assured that these reports will have no significant impact on the Island’s waste collections.”
Further discussion are being held today, where they hope to find out more about the details.
Following these talks, a council spokesperson said that they, “hope to be in a position to comment further.”
