Council leaders invited to Frank James Christmas get-together

An Island resident is urging the Isle of Wight council leader, David Pugh and other councillors to take part in the next Frank James guerilla gardening session.

Ian Pickard has sent out an invitation to the Grade II listed former hospital in East Cowes to meet the enthusiastic volunteers and find out what they’ve achieved since March, when the first guerilla gardening session took place.

He says, “We’re trying to get everyone together who passionately cares about Island heritage. The event is not political, but simply hopes to highlight an Island rich in history and heritage that so desperately needs your help.

“Volunteers are usually rewarded with home made pasties and hot tea! I’m led to believe that on 16th December there may be mince pies and mulled wine. Such is the hospitality of East Cowes. I’ll be leading a convoy of volunteers from Yarmouth – if you need a lift just ask.”

Genuine community project
He goes on to say, “Having worked with them I’ve come to realise this is a genuine community project designed to save a much cherished local landmark.

“If you’re in any doubt about their motivation, please take a few moments to watch.”
