Councillor Whittaker Issues Statement On Toilet Arrest

VB managed to speak to Councillor David Whittaker this afternoon, following the statement by the police of his arrest.

Cllr WhittakerHe sent VentnorBlog the following statement, prepared by his solicitor on his behalf.

Today David Whittaker has been charged with the offence of Sexual activity in a public lavatory, he is due to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday 27 August.

He denies any involvement in the activity as alleged, he does not know the person who made the allegation nor was he at the relevant place at the relevant time. Further he is physically incapable of performing the alleged acts.

He was very surprised indeed to be charged with this offence and will robustly defend the prosecution.

Further details
When speaking to him we asked about the “Further he is physically incapable of performing the alleged acts” part of the statement.

Cllr Whittaker told us that due to past heart conditions, operations (both successful, 1990 and failed during, 2000) and medication that he’s taking, his blood flow isn’t what it used to be – hence his significantly reduced ability to pump blood leads to the “physically incapable” phrase.
