As we Tweeted at the time, yesterday saw the Read-in at County Hall in Newport.
The people were there to protest about closure of public facilities on the Island, in particular the libraries.
It being World Book Day was a grand benefit.
For them, not the noisy protest, but a dignified collection of around 17 people sitting around in good-humour, reading books in the reception area of County Hall.
We went around a few to speak to them about the books that they’d decided to read and why they were at County Hall that day.
Have a listen, their selections can be quite revealing and included The Social Contract by Jean Jacques Rousseau, Protest and 1984 [audio:http://otw-audio.s3.amazonaws.com/2011.03.03-county-hall-read-in.mp3]
