County Hall Read-In: The Reasons And Books (Podcast + Video)

As we Tweeted at the time, yesterday saw the Read-in at County Hall in Newport.

Utopian thought in the Western WorldThe people were there to protest about closure of public facilities on the Island, in particular the libraries.

It being World Book Day was a grand benefit.

For them, not the noisy protest, but a dignified collection of around 17 people sitting around in good-humour, reading books in the reception area of County Hall.

We went around a few to speak to them about the books that they’d decided to read and why they were at County Hall that day.

Have a listen, their selections can be quite revealing and included The Social Contract by Jean Jacques Rousseau, Protest and 1984 [audio:http://otw-audio.s3.amazonaws.com/2011.03.03-county-hall-read-in.mp3]
