Death in Ventnor: Post Premiere Chat (podcast)

Back in April around 400 people from around the Island were lucky enough to be invited to the premiere of David George’s debut feature film, Death in Ventnor.

Death in Ventnor: Post Screening Chat (podcast)The film was screened at Medina Theatre to a very appreciative audience. Their admiration was not only down to the fact the film was a great debut by this Ventnor film maker, but also because many of them had some connection to it, either as actors, location providers, props etc.

David and Jill George had been working tirelessly on the film for the previous 18 months with the help of David White (director of photography) from City Eye (Southampton).

All the actors were unpaid and the entire feature film created on a budget of under £2,000. Pretty bonkers considering that a large percentage of that went on catering for the shoots.

We caught up with the three of them after the film to find out how they thought it was received.

Jill shared how pleased she was that everyone seemed to enjoy the film and have a good time, so many of the reactions in the audience were united and you can’t say better than that!

David went on to tell us that he considered it the ‘the best audience you’re ever going to get in your life’.

David White told us how during the period of filming and editing that he took on the role of ‘doubting Thomas’. Having been so close to the film, there were many times when he thought some of the gags wouldn’t work, but this was dispelled as soon as the first laugh came from the audience.

What’s clear from the film is that there is so much creative talent on the Island and as David tells us in the podcast below, if you put your mind to something, and don’t take no for an answer, anything is possible if you just go out and do it. mVentnor TV were also on the scene at the premiere and chatted to David before the screening.
