“Do We Want A Nuclear Powerstation or Wind Turbines?” (podcast)

Those were the words of David Pugh, Leader of the Isle of Wight Council, in May 2008.

Do We Want A Nuclear Powerstation or Wind Turbines On The Hills?Regular readers who have been following the wind turbine debate may remember the interview we did with David Pugh at the end of the Big Green Picnic last year.

We chatted about a new application that would be forthcoming for three turbines on Cheverton Down.

He told us, “I’ve made it quite clear, if we’re to be an Eco-Island, we have to have some on-shore Wind turbines.”

We wonder how many members of the Planning Committee have listened to what Cllr Pugh had to say all those months ago and whether this is something they will take into consideration tonight, when the fate of the application is discussed in front of a large public audience?

For the benefit of those who didn’t hear the interview the first time round, here it is again. [audio:http://otw-audio.s3.amazonaws.com/david-pugh-wind-turbines.mp3] We faded out the end of the interview as it trailed into discussions about schools.
