English Boy by Jamie Fineran

We have over the past few months had many writers get in touch asking us to promote their books. The latest is a biography by Jamie Fineran, member of Island band The Kurves.

Jamie FineranWhat’s so special about his life you might ask? Well in his previous life, Jamie served three tours of duty in Northern Ireland.

His story is one of a personal journey from a small village on the Isle of Wight to fighting on the hardened streets of Northern Ireland during the troubles.

After leaving home at 16, Jamie was plunged into a situation that would change his views on life forever.

By the age of 21, he’d completed three tours of duty in Northern Ireland and for his service, was awarded the Campaign service medal (Northern Ireland), the Accumulated Campaign service medal (Northern Ireland) and the Golden Jubilee medal.

Jamie is working on printing some copies of the book, but also considering downloads for those who prefer to read online.

Jamie tells is that he aims for half the proceeds of the book to go to Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA). This charity helps those who serve in the Armed Forces and those who used to serve as well as the families of both.

In his words
In this book, the author will take you on a journey and will shock even the most hardened reader.

He describes what it was like to patrol the streets, to feel fear, to be bricked and petrol bombed, to be shot at, and witness a stream of different bombs that created hell within the country and the UK.

The memoir contains fifteen wealthy chapters, some that will make anyone shed a small tear, others will feel you with deep joy and a burst of laughter. He had the privilege to have dined with Earl Spencer after the death of princess Diana after winning the Spencer trophy that the regiment held in respect of that fine lady.

Check back tomorrow for extracts from the book to give you a flavour of what to expect. Jamie is keen to know what VentnorBlog readers think of his story.
