Floating Bridge annual inspection moved after public voice their views

Readers will remember that earlier in the week the Isle of Wight council announced the floating bridge would be taken out of service for its annual maintenance inspection from 18 March.

Many residents commented on the lack of joined-up thinking, as the council was intending to divert vehicles through Newport at the same time as major diversions due to gas works on Fairlee Road.

This morning the council announce that “in light of public feedback”, they have now arranged for the Cowes Floating Bridge to have its annual inspection from Monday 15 April instead.
