Garden waste collection fees set to rise due to inflation, says Isle of Wight council

There are plans afoot to increase the cost of Isle of Wight council’s Green Garden Waste collection service.

Households renewing their subscriptions in January 2024 could see the annual cost of £96 rise by 6.25 per cent.

Inflationary costs
The council say that “inflationary costs mean that the service is more expensive to operate” and that the 6.25 per cent increase will ensure sufficient costs are recovered to pay the service provider.

Cabinet member decision
A decision is expected to be made by 18th December 2023 by Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Finance, Councillor Ian Stephens.

The council say the decision is urgent due to the need to design marketing materials, update the booking system software and prepare to open subscriptions in early January for the coming financial year.
