Hospice Care Week, share what it means to you

Thanks to Ben for sharing this news from the Hospice. Ed

Earl Mountbatten Hospice is delighted to be taking part in Hospice Care Week, starting on Monday 9th October, by asking people to share what they think a hospice is all about. It’s very easy.

The ‘I am Hospice Care’ campaign is simply a few words to sum up your thoughts about hospice care and what it means to you.

Share your thoughts
We’d love everyone to get involved, whether you have a connection to Earl Mountbatten Hospice or not, and tell us something about yourself to pledge your support to your local hospice.

It’s easy to get involved, all you have to do is take your own “…I am Hospice Care” picture with your message and share it with us on Facebook, Twitter, or email: [email protected].

We will be sharing people’s “…I am Hospice Care’ messages all week through social media and there will be awareness raising events taking place in the EMH Newport Shop (22 – 24 Lugley Street, Newport) on Tuesday 9th and Thursday 11th October.

Find out more about the Hospice
Here members of the public will be able to chat with representatives from the Hospice, find out a bit more about all of the services we offer, and of course share their very own Hospice Care Week messages.

Hospice Care Week is a national campaign coordinated by Help the Hospices to highlight the inspiring and personal way that hospice care helps patients living with a life-limiting illness to add life to days, and extends to family and friends.

Testimonials
A little while ago Earl Mountbatten Hospice asked supporters for their own personal experiences and thoughts on hospice care, here is just a small selection of the many testimonials received:

“Our hospice is a very important part of our community; it is timeless and touches all age groups.”

“The Hospice gave my husband the support to live the last year of his life to the full and he did not feel it was a place to die.”

“Just thank you for being there!”

“The Hospice does wonderful work – especially the home service so people can stay at home in comfort.”

“Good luck to everybody involved in this wonderful sanctuary.”

Reading through these testimonials gives a small indication of how hospice care affects people’s lives in many different ways, and how touching and memorable these reminisces and opinions are. This Hospice Care Week we want to celebrate stories, memories and personal experiences of hospice care and to learn what people think a hospice is all about.
