Hospice nurses floored by Adam’s generosity

Thanks to Erika for this latest news from the Earl Mountbatten Hospice. Ed

When local businessman Adam Connor heard the nurses at Earl Mountbatten Hospice needed a new floor for their staffroom, he didn’t hesitate to come to their rescue.

Adam, who runs Long Lane Carpets and Flooring in Newport, was straight on the case and fitted the staffroom with a brand new vinyl floor, completely free of charge. Hospice nurses were overwhelmed by his generosity and have since plied him with biscuits and chocolates to say thank you!

The well-worn carpet came to Adam’s attention after Tina Groves, who works at the Hospice, wrote to several Island-based flooring companies to ask if anyone might be willing to help give the nurses staffroom a bit of a face-lift.

Adam, who lives in Sandown with his wife and two daughters, said:

“When I received Tina’s email, I was more than willing to help out – the Hospice is such a good cause and I was only too happy to get involved. I know lots of people who fundraise and have connections with the Hospice – everyone knows someone who has used the services. It was great to be able to do something for the nurses there.”
