Hovertravel: Inner Skirt Damage Disrupts Service

Following on from last night’s report of problems with the Hovertravel service, we have more news today. Below is the notice provided to customers today. Ed

Hovertravel: Inner Skirt Damage Disrupts ServiceHovertravel would like to advise all customers that due to engineering work being carried out on our smaller craft, Freedom 90, we will operate a 30 minute service for all day Tuesday.

Damage to inner skirt
This is due to the ‘inner skirt’ damage which will require approximately 30 hours labour to correct. The ‘inner skirt’ is used to ensure stability to the operation of the craft and also provides protection whilst at sea.

Although we are hopeful our teams ill be able to return the craft to service earlier, we felt it prudent to plan for the ‘worse case’ scenario as out lined below.

Revised timetable
Ryde: First departure 06.15 08.15, last departure 19.45 with departures at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour

Southsea: First departure 06.30, last departure at 20.00 with departures on the hour and 30 minutes past.

Should we be in a position to return the craft to operation earlier than anticipated, we will ensure that the information is available on the Website, from our staff in the terminal and issue the necessary alert via our sms service.
