HTP welcomes Chancellor’s extended commitment to Apprenticeship schemes

HTP Apprenticeship College has welcomed the extension of cash incentives designed to encourage businesses to take on Apprentices.

The Chancellor Rishi Sunak has confirmed that a bonus payment of £3,000, for every Apprentice that a business hires, will continue to be funded by the government until the end of January.

Randall: Employers can continue to benefit from a real boost
HTP Apprenticeship College’s Principal and Chief Executive Rachael Randall says,

“We welcome the additional support for training and the business community.

“As the economy continues to recover from the shock of the pandemic, employers can continue to benefit from a real boost. We know that Apprentices are great for businesses, but with the extension of the £3,000 cash incentive, it means that many employers could receive up to £4,000 if they take on a new Apprentice.”

The recent announcement from the Treasury is part of a £500 million jobs support package. The £3,000 bonus payment initially ended in September, but Rishi Sunak has announced a four month extension to the scheme, until the end of January.

Randall: Seize the opportunity on offer
Rachael added,

“I would encourage business owners to seize the opportunity on offer.

“The extended incentive is a welcome boost but it’s unlikely to continue beyond January. With the ending of the furlough scheme and a shortage of labour in many sectors, taking on an Apprentice can provide strong solutions for businesses needing staffing support. Employers really should act now.

“Hiring an Apprentice is a brilliant way of solving recruitment problems. Businesses work with a provider like HTP to design a training programme that is bespoke to the way they operate; we advertise the role and make it easy, finding the right person for your team. Apprenticeships are also a great way of investing in existing staff, bridging the skills gap by providing them with top notch training, where the government pays 95 per cent of the cost.”

Recently recruited employees can join the programme
The extension of the scheme also allows for employers to receive the grant if they have employed staff after 1st April this year, who then go on to an Apprenticeship. It means recently recruited existing employees can join the programme, as well as new starters.

With more than 21 years’ experience of working with businesses and developing careers, HTP has a track record in delivering high quality training to employees who stay with their company.

Rachael says,

“Hiring an Apprentice shouldn’t be daunting for a business.

“It’s what we do. We will find the right training, recruit and interview candidates with you, preparing your Apprentice for the workplace, making sure your Apprentice is learning the relevant skills for your business.

“There’s no doubt that Apprenticeships are now fully recognised as a powerful route to real careers, backed by real qualifications. With funding available to businesses of all sizes and sectors, along with an added bonus of up to £4,000, there really is no time to waste.

“If you want to make your business more successful in 2022, think about taking on an Apprentice today.”
