Hundreds of poppies being created for WWI commemoration

As part of commemorations of the Great War, 500 poppies are being made by volunteers that will be placed in three separate wooden memorial gardens at the cemetery – one each for the Army, Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force.

A memorial service will also be held at the cemetery at 6.30pm on Tuesday 11 November which will be led by the Reverend Canon Graham Morris.

The wooden memorial gardens were made by volunteer and ex-Sergeant Tom Crabtree, while flowers were donated by Joanna Barton who runs Blushing Blooms in the town.

The poppy display and gardens of remembrance can be found in the south chapel at the cemetery.
