A 25-year-old man from the Isle of Wight is due to appear in court charged following what is being reported by the BBC as an armed robbery in Derbyshire.
The robbery of a £1,000 necklace took place on Saturday afternoon at Cresta Gems in Heanor, Derbyshire. A knife was used.
It’s reported that a man in the shop ran after the robber and was joined by a police officer, who detained him.
Update 23.Feb.11 11:10: A paper local to the robbery has an interview with the shop customer that ran after the person stealing the necklace – for five minutes the report says.
He’s been recommended for a bravery award, but he’s modest about it, telling the paper, “I just wanted to get him, to get the chain back. You don’t think about it, you just do it.”
