Isle of Pink month in full swing

Thanks to Lauren from Breast Cancer Campaign for this update on how this year’s Isle of Pink is going. Ed

This year’s Isle of Pink has gone off with a bang thanks to a host of pink-filled activities which have taken place across the Island.

On Thursday 30 August, The Needles Park held their annual pink day and were joined by volunteers from the Pink on Wight group to run a number of pink games and activities for visitors.

The official Isle of Pink launch day then followed in St James Square Newport on Saturday 1 September where Pink on Wight were joined by performer Lewis Berry and dancers from Dance Vibez to celebrate the start of the month of awareness and fundraising.

Look out for decorations
Pink decorations have also been popping up across the Island, with pink bicycles parked in Ryde and Newport, floral displays by Southern Boats in East Cowes and Yarmouth Pier festooned in bows and banners.

Shops across the Island are joining in by decorating their windows with pink displays, the best in each town being judged at the end of the month.

Magnificent mural
Anne Turner has also dedicated one of her renowned murals on her house in Ventnor to the Isle of Pink.

Supporters on the other side of the Solent also joined in on the fun with the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth turning its lights to pink on Monday 3 September in support of the campaign.

Still time to take part
There are lots more activities taking place for you to get involved in, including a bowling event at Ryde Superbowl on Saturday 22 September and the third Isle of Pink Zumba Party at Carisbrooke College on Sunday 30 September.
