Isle of Wight helicopter crash: Inquest for victims adjourned until March 2026

An inquest has commenced into the deaths of three people who died in a helicopter crash on the Isle of Wight.

The aircraft came down in a field near Shanklin on the morning of Monday 25th August 2025.

The victims were Justyna Czoska, 52, Wojciech Kowalkowski, 49 from Oxfordshire, and Simon Hewitt, 54, a flying instructor from Lincolnshire.

Post-mortem findings
Dr Megan Jenkins, a Home Office registered pathologist, conducted the post-mortem examination at the hospital mortuary on 27th August.

The coroner’s officer confirmed to the BBC that the provisional cause of death for all three victims was “multiple injuries”.

Court proceedings adjourned
The Isle of Wight Coroner’s Court has adjourned the inquest until 5th March 2026 for all three victims.

This adjournment will allow time for the full investigation to conclude.

Aviation investigation underway
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has launched an investigation into the crash.

Officials expect the investigation to take approximately 12 months to complete.

Fourth passenger stable
The fourth passenger in the helicopter was a man in his 30s, who remains at hospital in a stable condition.
