We’ve been so lucky with the weather of late – it’s been unexpectedly amazing, hasn’t it?
There’s nothing like being out on a sunny day and The Royal in Ventnor has recognised this, combining it with a stunning view and the kind of quality of food that The Royal is well-known for.
Al Fresco on the Riviera Terrace
New for this summer, The Royal are offering Al Fresco dining up on their Riviera Terrace.
Up on the hillside floating over The Royal front gardens, the views from the Riviera Terrace are simply stunning, making it a great place to while away a lovely afternoon with friends or the family.
This is luxury outdoor eating – only this luxury comes at an attainable price.
There are two options for food – share together in a Mezze, or have a picnic hamper made up.
Mezze selection
There are three plated sets of Mezze, that are for two to share, coming with salads, focaccia bread, olives and dips.
- Seafood – Fresh Ventnor bay crab and lobster, Greenland prawns, locally smoked Scottish salmon, brown shrimps, mussels, oysters.
- Meats – Assiette of continental charcuterie, Parma ham, chorizo and salamis, roasted Kemphill farm beef rib, home cooked ham.
- Vegetarian – Grilled haloumi cheese and plum tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, IOW soft cheese and pesto, Roasted peppers and grilled aubergine, marinated artichokes and olive potato salad.
Picnic baskets
The wicker picnic baskets are far more a ‘pick and choose’ affair.
A wide selection of tapas; starters; salads; sandwiches; cold meats; fish and shellfish; desserts and cheeses are available, to match your taste and mood.

Act on impulse
One of the great things about the Royal’s offer is that all of this can be arranged at just two hours notice – so you can look out of the window during the morning, see it’s going to be another amazing day, then be on the grass, eating and supping while looking out at a stunning view, all a couple of hours later.
The only draw back we can find is that it’s limited to 24 places.
