John Timpson and family:

John Timpson’s life celebrated at Trident Concert Band memorial concert

Thanks to Dave for sharing details of this upcoming event. It sounds like a perfect memorial for their former band president who sadly passed away earlier this year. Ed

The Trident Concert Band are holding a memorial concert in honour of our late Band President, John Timpson, who died of cancer earlier this year.

Our Band President
The Trident Concert Band will be under the musical direction of Robin Taylor, who has arranged a march dedicated to John entitled, Our Band President.

This will start the evening off and will also feature John’s grand-daughter Shauna, in her first concert for the band.

The challenging programme will include a mixture of both new and old pieces some written by composers such as Rick Wakeman, Jeff Wayne, John Williams, Andrew LLoyd Webber all pieces are arranged for the band by the band.

Where and when
It will be held at the Riverside Centre in Newport on the Island Friday 21st June.

Tickets will be available at the door priced at £5 and as John was a proud veteran of the British Army, all proceeds will be going to Help for Heroes.

When asked about why the band supports Help for Heroes Robin said,

“In the current climate it is important to remember that music is an international language, the band will be playing some demanding pieces, but to rise to the challenge is to succeed.”

Doors open at 7pm and the Baton will drop 7.30pm.
