Islander Sam Hodgson is a professional mountain bike rider who competes around the world, flying the flag for the Isle of Wight.
He’s been responsible for bringing the likes of other pro mountain bike riders Tom Isted (he came up with the ‘Island of Dreams’ moniker for the IW) and Sam Pilgrim (remember his steps of Ventnor mission) to the Island.
All of these guys are at the top of their game and have millions of subscribers to their social media channels, so it’s always great promo for the Island when Sam invites them over.
The latest escapade for the mountain bikers is a visit to Sam’s incredible mountain bike centre over Shorwell way to test out his new trails.
The legendary Sam Pilgrim
The new trails that have been created are not for the faint hearted, but thanks to some Go Pro cameras and a YouTube channel, luckily we can simply sit back and watch, rather than having to try them out ourselves (although when the bike park opens to the public later this year you can if you’re brave enough).
This footage from the legendary Sam Pilgrim (make sure you check out his other videos) features not only Sam H’s bike park, but also covers Sam P riding E-foil boards with Islander, Tom Court, as well as visiting Hamish Fleming’s new skatepark in Chale, the Canopy Skatepark.
There’s even some bonus eye-watering footage at the Lymington dirt jump spot, where Sam P stopped into on the way to the Island.
We get such a thrill from just watching the videos on our TV screen, so hope you enjoy them too.
