Music Service Consultation Postponed

VB has been told that the public consultation, due to commence on the future of the Isle of Wight Music Service, has been postponed.

Sheet MusicReaders will remember the outrage of residents when VB broke the news back in March that the Isle of Wight council were proposing to make major changes to the Isle of Wight Music Service, which would result in compulsory redundancies for 22 peripatetic staff.

Continue in its current form until April
News leaked to VB today claims that the service will continue in its current form until at least April 2013, a mere month before the elections.

The public consultation won’t take place until September this year.

At a Children and Young People Scrutiny Panel meeting in March, it was agreed that Cllr Dawn Cousins, the cabinet member responsible, would make a Delegated Decision for the proposed changes to go out to public consultation, the results of which would be fed back to Cabinet in July.

Bid for Music Hub
Last week the Arts Council announced that the Isle of Wight had been successful in their bid to become a Music Hub.
