If you weren’t able to make it along on Saturday to the Natwest Island Games opening ceremony, or didn’t get to see the whole thing, or even if you just wanted to re-live it, while you’re chomping your lunchtime sandwich at your computer, here are some videos to give you a flavour of what went on.
These video build on the ones we ran yesterday of the sensational opening parade.
The first, by Island resident Christian Beasley, features the arrival of the athletes into the area where the ceremony took place; the speeches; and the bright carnival-type performance that ended the event.
We understand there might have been some interruption with the video screens at Simeon Rec after Lord Coe had finished speaking, so here’s you chance for everyone to see it. It looks spectacular.
The second is much longer, showing the live footage that they broadcast on the day. It might have a couple of ads shown, while you’re watching.
