From the Needles:

Navitus Bay offshore wind park to be debated in Parliament

Issues surrounding the proposed Navitus Bay offshore wind park will be discussed in Parliament this afternoon.

According to the BBC, MP for Poole, Robert Syms, has secured a debate at 4.30pm.

He’s quoted as saying his residents believe the wind park will be an eyesore and could increase bills for the poorest people.

There has been strong objection to the proposed offshore wind farm from many parts of the South Coast, with a group calling itself Challenge Navitus being particularly vocal.

Yarmouth port?
Readers may remember that Yarmouth was named in June 2013 on a shortlist of three ports which could be home to the wind park’s operations and maintenance functions.

Navitus Bay also supported the bid for the Isle of Wight Studio School, due to open in East Cowes in Sept 2014.
