After 18 years of exceptional service to Isle of Wight College, Debbie Lavin CBE will be stepping down at the end of this term.
This week, after a rigorous selection process, the college governors are pleased to announce the appointment of Ros Parker OBE as the next Principal. Ros will join the college at the start of the Autumn Term 2022.
Ros has a wide experience in the further and adult education sector; she is currently Principal of Southend Adult Community College, and prior to that was Principal of Prospect College of Advanced Technology.
Lavin: Pleased to be able to handover to someone with excellent experience
Debbie Lavin CBE, current Isle of Wight College principal said,
“I have enjoyed my 18 years at The Isle of Wight College immensely and I am pleased to be able to handover to someone with excellent experience that will keep the college moving forward in the right direction.
“This is an exciting and positive time for the further education sector as a whole and for the college in particular.
“We are benefiting from significant government investment in new campus buildings, a new Institute of Technology with state-of-the-art facilities and innovative new curriculum such as T-Levels and Higher Level Technical qualifications.
“All of this will be of major benefit for students, employers and the wider Island community. I wish Ros the very best of luck in her new role.”
Stiff competition

“Ros was selected from a strong field of applicants, who had been attracted to the post due to the college’s excellent national reputation.
“Ros will continue to drive forward our mission of putting students first and meeting the needs of local employers.

Ros Parker OBE said,
“I am honoured to be appointed as Principal of The Isle of Wight College and I look forward to getting to know students, parents, staff and our partners across the Island’s community.
“I recognise that this is a fantastic opportunity and I look forward to taking forward the exciting plans for investment in the college’s campus, facilities and curriculum.
“I am incredibly humbled to have been selected and entrusted with ensuring that Island residents continue to have access to high quality education and training.”
