Photographers invited to build meaningful connections and uncover new opportunities at meet up

Join the Isle of Wight Creative Network for their first meet up designed specifically for photographers. The event also warmly welcomes visual artists and videographers.

It will take place on Thursday, 25th April 2024, from 5pm to 7pm at the iconic Dimbola Museum and Galleries in Freshwater. There is no charge for admission.

Celebrating photographic heritage
Dimbola Lodge was the home and artistic haven of pioneering Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron from 1860 to 1875. Today, it is a dynamic centre for culture, maintained by the Julia Margaret Cameron Trust. Visitors can explore its museum, gallery spaces, gift shop, and a charming tea room.

The historical significance of the venue makes it an ideal setting for an evening dedicated to inspiration and networking.

Spotlight on innovation
The highlight of the evening will be a presentation by George Budden, the museum’s latest Artist in Residence. His engagement is part of an innovative series sponsored by Arts Council England.

George is celebrated for his extensive work in the arts as a visual artist, curator, and workshop facilitator, and is known for pushing the boundaries of creative expression. His recent projects at Dimbola have involved mentoring local youth in innovative photography techniques.

Networking and opportunities
This event offers more than just the usual exchange of business cards. It presents a unique opportunity to build meaningful connections, uncover new opportunities at Dimbola, and learn how local resources can be optimally utilised for artistic endeavours.

Whether you are deeply immersed in the field or just starting out, the event is set to be a rich source of knowledge and inspiration.
