Police Investigate Discovery Of Man’s Body In Freshwater

Police InsigniaPolice can confirm they are continuing to investigate the discovery of a man’s body on a beach at Freshwater Bay this morning (Monday, April 4, 2011).

The death is not being treated as suspicious. Next-of-kin and HM Coroner have been informed.

Police are not in a position to confirm the man’s name until formal identification procedures have been completed tomorrow (Tuesday, April 5, 2011).

A post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death will take place in due course, and an inquest will be opened and adjourned by HM Coroner.

Appeal for information
Police are continuing to appeal for information about the last known movements of Ian David Lanfear, aged 45, of Victoria Road, Freshwater, Isle of Wight.

He was reported missing after leaving his home address at approximately 10am on Sunday, April 3.
