It appears – if the massive, positive reaction on Twitter is anything to go by – that John Giddings has pulled off a genius move by signing the Red Hot Chili Peppers (or RHCP or Chili Peppers to their many fans) to play at the 2014 Isle of Wight Festival.
Following the announcement yesterday afternoon, hundreds and hundreds of people across the whole of the UK were Tweeting how excited they were about RHCP coming to the Island for the Festival, many adding that they had bought tickets just on the basis of the band playing there.
Here’s a small sample of those raving about the news …
The fact that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are headlining makes me want to go to Isle of Wight festival even more!!!

Bestival dilemma
Interestingly, those who have already bought Bestival tickets (widely considered to be the better festival) are questioning if they’ve done the right thing this year, remaining unimpressed with Outkast as the only currently-announced headliner at this year’s Bestival. Some have even spoken of trying to swapping their Bestival Tickets of IW Festival ones.
It’ll be interesting to see what Rob da Bank does to up the game, as he’s already announced on Twitter that Outkast are the biggest headliner.
to be clear Outkast are our biggest headliner @bestival 2014 and no, Prince, Daft Punk, David Bowie and The Beatles aren't playing this year

Ticket boost
Rumours have been circulating the Island of 22,000 tickets having remained unsold at last year’s IW Festival. The Festival never disclose official figures, but many people reported to us they thought there were less people on site in 2013.
Given this, John Giddings had to do something major to reverse what some thought might have been a downward trend, that started after nationwide coverage of the huge traffic chaos of 2012.
It seems that the Red Hot Chili Peppers have done just that.
