RIP ‘Sarge’, Ryde’s piercing body pioneer, well known around the World

Our thanks to Broc Silva for sharing this tribute to Chris Sargeant who sadly passed away last week. In his own words. Ed

The rather magnificent Sarge (Chris Sargeant) of Ryde renown passed away on 25th January 2022.

He was well known in the body piercing fraternity and as a general bon vivuer, musician, organiser of open mic nights, artist, writer and all round good chap.

A phenomenon amongst the ‘alternative’ crowd
Opening his famous piercing shop in Bournemouth (Metal Fatigue) he has become something of a phenomenon amongst the ‘alternative’ crowd.

Running piercing parties and fetish nights in the 1990s, he travelled the World as one of the pioneers of the scene long before facial jewellery and even ear-stretching became popular.

He consequently achieved fame across Eastern Europe, Canada, Brazil.

Sudden loss has devastated a community
Sarge’s sudden loss at just 51 has left a massive hole in many people’s hearts and devastated a community.

He leaves a wife, Vicki, and (hopefully) Metal Fatigue will continue to provide safe, quality piercings (Sarge was a stickler for professionalism and aftercare) for many years to come.

As an ordained druid, a regular at festivals, a wise man and a good friend to so many, it feels like the world should take note of one of our favourite friends.

Love you Sarge… never forgotten- a legend in his short lifetime.
