The Daisy Bus in front of the Hovercraft

Seven crafty Islanders all set for Craftathon Challenge to raise money for the Daisy Bus

A group of Islanders are planning a 24-hour craftathon in aid of Wessex Cancer Trust’s Daisy Bus service.

Previous funding cuts have posed a risk for the vital service which transports Islanders to their hospital appointments in Portsmouth and Southampton for free.

Costs £58,000 a year to run
In 2019 thanks to a huge response to a fundraising appeal, Wessex Cancer Trust were able to purchase a new Daisy Bus.

However, the service costs around £58,000 per annum to run, so the charity hugely appreciates local fundraising efforts.

Craftathon challenge
Organised by Vanessa Standen, there’ll be seven crafty Islanders taking part in the challenge which begins at 10am on Saturday 9th April, finishing at 10am on Sunday 10th April.

It takes place at Knit Knacks Wool shop in Lake (11 Sandown Rd, Sandown PO36 9JL).
