Urgent appeal to help complete community renovation project

This in from Ben on behalf of AgeUK IW, in their own words. Ed

The Prince’s Trust Team One, working in partnership with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, are requesting help from the Island community to help finish an ambitious renovation project in aid of Age UK Isle of Wight.

The group of 16 young volunteers, all aged between 16 and 25 years old and currently NEETs, have been working on renovating and redesigning the tired garden and meeting room at Age UKIW’s offices in Newport into a vibrant and accessible community space.

Donations appreciated
The group have been working incredibly hard and are now putting the finishing touches to the garden ready for the completion of the project on Friday. As this is purely voluntary the group are asking for donations from the generous Island public to help complete this life changing project. They are looking for:

  • Benches
  • Bird house
  • Table and chairs
  • Wooden Grow Box/s
  • Soil
  • Ornaments
  • Plants
  • Donations for all of the above!

All useable donations will be placed in the garden at Age UKIW and used for the benefit of our older Islander’s. If you can help with any donations please contact the Prince’s Trust Team directly on 07918 887993.

Once completed the garden, community room and the My Life a Full Life funded community kitchen, will allow older people to take part in the social Cook, Grow, Eat project, where produce grown in the garden will be cooked and then shared with the local community.

Any and all donations will be gratefully received
