On Tuesday evening, 130 or so Islanders crammed into one of the function rooms at Northwood House in Cowes to take part in a live recording of BBC Radio 4’s The Kitchen Cabinet programme.
As usual, the programme was hosted by food critic Jay Rayner, who was joined by a panel consisting of; food scientist, Peter Barham; Glaswegian cook and expert on Catalan cooking, Rachel McCormack; cook, writer and co-founder of Leon restaurants, Henry Dimbleby and acclaimed food critic, writer and broadcaster, Tim Hayward.
Questions, anecdotes and tastings
Residents and food lovers from around the Isle of Wight listened with great interest to the food-related questions and answers, anecdotes and facts.
The panel had the great joy of tasting some of the most pungent garlic the room had ever smelt, as well as some Isle of Wight doughnuts and coffee mixed with …. well you’ll have to listen to the programme to find out.
The recording goes out on Radio 4 on Saturday 16th August at 10.30am and will be repeated on Tuesday 19th August.
