White-tailed Eagle returns to the Isle of Wight after summering in Northern Scotland

One of the White-tailed Eagles released on the Isle of Wight in 2020 has just returned to the Island this week, after a summer in Northern Scotland.

G466 first visited Scotland in Spring 2021, spending almost the entire year there before returning the Island in February 2022.

She stayed on in the south until April, when she headed back up to Scotland once again, where she remained until this week. During her time moving around Northern Scotland, G466 was joined at times by two other Isle of Wight birds, the 2021 females G542 and G547.

On 22nd September G466 flew back a whopping 1,003km to the Island (in almost a straight line) in just seven days.
