As you know, Alex Dyke is no longer on Isle of Wight radio having been shifted off, it appears rather quickly – Alex says that he didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye to his audience.
It then appeared that WightFM, a yet to be launched Internet-only radio station, were going have Alex on it, or so their Web site said.
A glance at that same Web site you’ll find that Mr Dyke’s name has now disappeared and a nom de plume of Mr Marmite is being used instead. Is this Alex or another person?
More confusion
On Alex’s Facebook there’s a couple of postings that add further to the confusion.
Wightfm Martin, who calls himself Station Director/Co Owner posted that “Alex is back with a bigger and better phone-in,” on WightFM.
Alex himself posted the below a couple of hours later
“Who says i’m ever gonna do any radio again. i did read the paper on friday and this local new station does sound interesting. 3 weeks ago i thought internet radio was for kids in their bedrooms, but i have now spoken to loads and loads of people who listen to internet and wi fi radio, they tell me it’s the future.”
Will he? Won’t he?
It’s left some people wonder if Alex, the wily old bird, is thinking that he could be starting his own Internet radio station without needing to do it via WightFM; if he’s playing hard to get; or if it’s all designed to build anticipation of the station??
Looks like it’s working : )
