Winter Gardens’ Bar and Catering Sales Booming

Papers sent out in connection to tonight’s Ventnor Town Council (VTC) meeting make for very interesting reading.

Winter Gardens' Bar and Catering Sales BoomingOne of the documents included is a report on the bar and catering sales at Winter Gardens.

The bar and catering staff are regularly praised by the Town Clerk and councillors during VTC meetings and we can now see the results of their dedication to the Winter Gardens – and in turn to the council tax paying residents in Ventnor.

On the up
Figures for July have just been released and we were amazed to see that the combined bar and catering sales achieved a whopping £35,158 in the last month.

The report states that this was an increase of 3.2% over the June total.

How’s it split?
The breakdown of the taking for July were £25,054 at the bar and £10,104 on food sales.

The first four months of the current financial year Bar takings totalled £87,498 and those for Catering £37,593, a total of £125,091.

The clerk states in his report that unfortunately these figures cannot be compared to the same time as last year because trading information by the former concessionaire, Graham Perks, was apparently not shared with the Town Council.

Rent discounts due to poor sales?
Regular readers might remember that the previous concessionaire, Graham Perks, was awarded rent discounts of over £35,000 during his period at the Winter Gardens, after claiming he was not making enough money to cover costs.

Luckily, it looks as though the tide has turned.

Well done to everyone involved, let’s hope the upward trend continues.
